People
come from around the world to visit Zion National park to view and
experience the many natural wonders within this national park that
covers an area of over 229 square miles and is over 30 miles in
length. Visitors are awed by the views from the canyon floor of
cliffs and sandstone walls rising thousands of feet overhead. The
unique red hues of the park are caused by iron oxidization which
stains the sandstone. Natural desert varnishes stain the cliffs
with shades of black and grey creating one of the most colorful
and majestic natural rock formations in the world. Wildlife aboud
within the park with such animals as deer, big horn sheep, bald
eagles, mountain lions, coyotes and wild turkeys highlighting a
list of many unique animals, birds and reptiles.
St. George Utah has become a
destination for sunshine and outdoor adventure.
The surrounding geologic formations
include Zion National Park, Snow Canyon State Park, Pine Valley
Mountain and the Virgin River Gorge. These and other land formations
make St. George, Utah one of the prime destinations in the west
for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, horseback riding, scenic
air tours and much more. St. George Utah and Zion National Park are within 45
minutes of eachother and the entire surrounding area is an outdoor
adventure paradise with slot canyons, high mountain plateaus, rivers,
lakes, streams and all types of terrain between elevations of 2,000
feet and nearly 11,000 feet above sea level.
